Prof. Karl Friedrik K. Poblador finished his bachelor’s degree in economics and his MA History degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is presently an Assistant Professor at UP History Department, where he is in the process of completing his PhD. He regularly writes articles, present papers and engages in research on the history of Philippine economic institutions, particularly transportation. His most recent refereed article, entitled “Iloilo and the Birth of Commercial Aviation in the Philippines” was published in Journal of Philippine Local History and Heritage (2016) by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), for which he also served as an associate researcher on a forthcoming book regarding the history of land tenure and agrarian reform in the Philippines. He also recently served as co-project leader for a project under the auspices of the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs of UP on the history of the mass transit system in Metro Manila.
