Emmanuel Jayson V. Bolata is an Assistant Professor at the Department of History, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman, where he also obtained his BA (2018) and MA (2024) degrees in history. His thesis, Filipino Reception and Appropriation of Modern Astronomical Knowledge, 1859–1958, won the first prize in the 4th Loretta Makasiar Sicat Prize for the Social Sciences. His research interests include cultural history of science (astronomy and cosmology), literary studies (particularly on Philippine folk epics, poetry, and children’s literature), folklore studies, and the local history of Marinduque, Philippines.
