● Must demonstrate teaching and research capability

● Proof of teaching experience, publications, conference presentations, and extension work
● For first time applicants only: two (2) letters of recommendation from former professors and work supervisors

Deadline and Reminders

Applications, including the letters of recommendation, must be submitted on or before 12 March 2026, Thu, 11:59 PM.

Submission of tampered and incomplete documents will result in automatic disqualification. Late submissions will not be entertained.

Qualifications

● Honor graduates or those who belonged to the upper ten percent of their graduating class in the Bachelor of Arts (History) Program of the Department. Additionally, they must be enrolled or have been accepted in the Graduate Program of the Department as MA or PhD students; and
● Outstanding MA or PhD students who are at least in their second year in the Graduate Program of the Department.
● Applicants are expected to have outstanding communication, research, and creative skills. Those with prior teaching experience are preferred.

Procedure for New Applicants

1. Download and fill out the OVPAA Forms 13.1 and 13.2 (TA/TF Application Forms) from this link: https://ovpaa.up.edu.ph/grants-and-awards/up-teaching-assistantship-program/

2. Prepare the following documents in PDF:
Transcript of Records (TOR) or Certified True Copy of Grades (TCG) showing the applicant’s updated or most recent grades;
Postgraduate Program of Study that clearly identifies the applicant’s intended specialization in history and the classes that they plan to take. This document must be signed by the applicant and by their program adviser if applicant is currently enrolled in the Graduate Program;

3. Application essay detailing the applicant’s career goals and interests in teaching, research, and/or creative work (750 to 1000 words only).
Applicants must also secure two (2) recommendation letters from teachers and mentors. These letters are to be addressed to the Chairperson of the UP Department of History, Assoc. Prof. Ruel V. Pagunsan, PhD, and sent via email by the referees to uphistoryteachingapplications@gmail.com.

Procedure for Renewing Applicants

1. Download and fill out the OVPAA Form 13.3 (TA/TF Renewal Form) which you can download from this link: https://ovpaa.up.edu.ph/grants-and-awards/up-teaching-assistantship-program/

2. Prepare the following documents in PDF:
Annex 1: Report of the TA/TF on the Program (to include the following: academic progress; plans for the semester/term; teaching enhancement and training; and esearch and creative work mentoring); and
Annex 4: Official Report of Grades from the Previous Semester/Term.
