
Micah Jeiel R. Perez
About
Micah Perez is assistant professor at the Department of History, UP Diliman. He finished his master’s degree at the Ateneo de Manila University, writing a thesis on the elite sports policies of the Marcos administration. He continues to write about the history of competitive sports in the Philippines, from the politics that govern them to economics that limit them, and everything else in between.
Micah has worked as an academic tutor to college athletes, head coach of high school varsity track and field, lecturer of the Rizal course in Ateneo, and defense research analyst at Philippine Army Headquarters. His research interests include sports history, Philippine nationalism, military history, martial law, defense and security studies, and, most recently, urban history.
