UPD, ADMU, NUS KICK OFF MAIDEN INTERNATIONAL CONFAB
Scholars from across the world converged at two Katipunan universities on 28-29 April 2025 for the Environmental Humanities in the Philippines and Southeast Asia: An International Conference. The academic event was jointly spearheaded by the Departments of History of the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD), the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), and the National University of Singapore (NUS). Topics covered include Southeast Asian environmental history using multidisciplinary approaches.
The UPD hosted the first day of the conference, which resumed at the ADMU on the second day. UPD Department of History Chairperson Dr. Ruel V. Medrano told the audience that the organizers hope to continue this collaboration in the years to come. Papers presented at this international conference are expected to be published in a book.
The UP Department of History, taking the helm as the conference secretariat, considers this conference as the opening activity for the celebration of its 115th founding anniversary this 2025.
