Chairperson
Neil Martial R. Santillan is the current chair of the UP Department of History. He previously served as UP Diliman’s Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs from 2014 to 2017. He also served as the Associate Dean for Administration and External Affairs of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy from 2010-2013.
Graduate Program Coordinator
Jely A. Galang is the current Graduate Program Coordinator of the Department of History. He provides support and management in the proper implementation of the Department’s graduate program.
Undergraduate Program Coordinator
Raymund Arthur G. Abejo is the current Undergraduate Program Coordinator of the Department of History. He provides support and management in the proper implementation of the Department’s undergraduate program. As such, Prof. Abejo serves as the Chairperson of the Department’s Committee on Student Admissions and Progress.
Research Coordinator
Ruel V. Pagunsan is the current Research Coordinator of the Department. He oversees the implementation of the Department’s Institutional Research Agenda. He also coordinates with other faculty members with regard to their individual research activities.
Kerby C. Alvarez is the current Extension and Public Affairs Coordinator of the Department. As Extension Coordinator, he ensures the proper implementation of the Department’s Institutional Agenda by bringing history closer to various audiences through conferences, symposia, and seminars. He also coordinates with other faculty members with regard to their individual extension agenda. Dr. Alvarez also oversees the maintenance of the Department’s official website and social media accounts.
Ros A. Costelo is the current Sustained Academic Excellence (SAE) Officer of the Department. As SAE Officer, she oversees the data gathering and drafting of the Department’s Self-Assessment Report (SAR) which will be used for self-assessment and external accreditation purposes. As such, she works closely with the Chairperson and the Coordinators to accomplish the demands and requirements of the SAR.
Dondy Pepito G. Ramos II is the current Student Activities Coordinator of the Department. He oversees and looks into the academic development of the students of the History Department. He also regularly coordinates and communicates with the student body to get their feedback and concerns regarding the Department.
Francis Justine M. Malban is the current Staff Concerns and Office Logistics Coordinator of the Department. He assists the Chairperson in implementing the Staff Development Plan, which looks into the professional and personal development of the staff of the History Department. He also facilitates regular staff meetings in the Department.
