Admissions

The Department of History follows the University of the Philippines intake policy and admission criteria for incoming freshmen at the Bachelor’s level. Every year, the Office of Admissions of the University circulates guidelines regarding application to the University through print media (e.g., newspapers, posters posted in different high schools nationwide) and online media (e.g., the University website and different social media sites). The Office of Admission conducts the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) every year prior to the start of the incoming Academic Year. The test consists of four subtests, namely, Science, Math, Reading Comprehension (English and Filipino) and Language Proficiency (English and Filipino).

Aside from the UPCAT, another method that the Department uses to gain new students is by accepting shifting students from Degree Programs within the college and UP Diliman, and transfer students from other UP Constituent Universities (CUs) and from other Schools or Universities. The Department accepts shifting applications every midyear and transfer applications every first semester only. The Department (through a committee) conducts a screening process that includes a written examination and interview of the evaluated applicants.
